System-on-Modules (SoMs)

Overview of the use and integration of system-on-modules in our embedded projects.

We use SoMs as central processing units and extend them with custom hardware, e.g., through FPGAs and additional peripherals.

A key focus is the integration of embedded Linux, interfacing FPGA logic, and the use of co-processors for real-time-critical tasks.

System-on-Modules Used

In our projects, we have used various system-on-modules, including:

  • Enclustra Mars ZX3
  • Enclustra Mars XU3
  • Dream Chip DCT10A22L20G2T4C
  • Trenz Electronic TE0720
  • Variscite DART-MX8M Mini
  • Variscite DART-MX8M Plus

All of these modules have been used in real-world projects over extended periods of time.

For Enclustra and Variscite modules, we developed custom carrier boards and set up or adapted the embedded Linux system. For all systems with FPGA components, the corresponding FPGA design was developed.
